Quality Assurance Manager
Our Client and the Role:

Founded in 1957, our client has over 50 years of experience developing and operating customized supply chain and associated service solutions in demanding environments.


Supported by a world-wide network of resources including state – of – the – art warehousing facilities, bulk fuel installations and real time freight tracking capabilities, our client provides workable resolutions to complex client requirements in the areas of food logistics, catering, retail, aviation, transport and warehousing, camp services and fuel management.

Within the Logistics Division, they ensure essential items such as food and bottled water is delivered with minimal disruption, under the most challenging conditions.
They operate multi-temperature distribution centres in Afghanistan on behalf of countries who are participating in ISAF, the multi-national peacekeeping force in Afghanistan and are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Manager for a distribution centre in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Reporting into the Group Quality Manager who is based in Dubai the successful candidate will ensure compliance to our clients Quality Management System through managing and monitoring the process control procedures and systems. In addition they will develop the quality culture on site to increase employee awareness to factors that may compromise food safety.
Specifically you will develop and implement HACCP, Pre-requisite programs and QMS within the new facility and be responsible for the ongoing management of the Quality System within the depot.
You will ensure effective management of the depot Quality Department and will report quality performance trends to the management team including major issues which could affect business performance.
You will ensure the Quality team perform their roles and responsibilities as defined in their job descriptions.
You will ensure all products are received, stored and distributed in compliance with companies SOPs, monitor the Hold/Release (Quarantine) program and manage the traceability and recall programs.
You will conduct internal audits of the depot ensuring strict compliance with our clients operating principles, procedures and standards.
You will manage audits, implement suggestions and preventative actions within the depot and along with the DGM you will be the point of conduct for external inspections.
You will conduct in-house inspections of depot to ensure a high level of hygiene and GMP standards.
You will provide training on pre-requisite programs (food handling/hygiene, SOPs, GMP, Process Control etc) and HACCP.
You will ensure the development of the quality culture on site to increase employee awareness to factors that may compromise food safety.
You will maintain, control and conduct maintenance of the QMS, HACCP document to reflect additions, deletions, or amendments.
You will oversee the management of corrective action program through direct contact with DGM and Depot Managers to ensure actions are implemented in a timely manner with an effective outcome.
You will continually review SOPs with Depot Managers to ensure procedures are up to date and accurate.

Finally you will provide technical guidance and support on quality issues, product specification and non-conformances to DGMs and senior management.



Knowledge and Skills:

To meet this unique challenge, you will ideally be an accomplished QA Manager with your quality assurance experience ideally gained in an fmcg environment with a strong understanding of food safety programs, HACCP principles, inspection and audit programs.

Your practical experience should ideally be supported by a tertiary education with a qualification in a science discipline, ideally food technology.

You should have formal accreditation as an Auditor or Trainer in HACCP Food Hygiene / Handling and ideally experienced in implementing, developing and conducting food hygiene / food safety training.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC / IT literate.

This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished QA professional looking for something different.

The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable after 12 month’s service which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry, local transport, medical / health insurance, permanent disability and death benefit, bereavement leave and meals are all provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.

Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is approximately 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off.

In addition Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
